This paper investigates the scheduling system for transporting Ready-Mixed Concrete (RMC).
The company in case study previously relies only on experiences and resulted in ineffective and
inappropriate outcome. In this study, we aimed to improve the approach for schedule arrangement of
Ready-Mixed Concrete transportation sequence using two procedures: a) First-Come First-Served
(FCFS) and genetic algorithm of single plant methods (GA+SP), and b) the application of genetic
algorithm of multi plant method (GA+MP). The total waiting time of RMC truck at the construction
sites (TWC), the number of interruption, and the total cost from both TWC and the number of
interruption were the indicators to measure the system efficiency. According to the outcome of Case
Study, the new system were improved by application of genetic algorithm of single plant methods
(GA+SP) that were decreased in the TWC, the number of interruption penalties, and total cost from the
interruption and penalties with the value of 15.63%, 18.5% and 31.38% respectively. For the results by
genetic algorithm of multi plant method (GA+MP) gave the result in TWC increasing from Uniform
Probability Distribution arrangement with 49.5%, but decreased in both the number of interruption and
total cost with the value of 2.63% and 60.93% respectively.
