A taxonomic account of the genus Thyrsostachys for Thailand, where its two recognized species, T. oliveri and T. siamensis, are
among the most economically important and widely planted native bamboos, is provided. A second-step lectotypification of the
name Thyrsostachys oliveri is proposed and information on the natural distribution of the genus is also included.
