The treatment of migraine with traditional chinese medicine

Migraine headache is the most common chronic pain diseases. Currently, there is no specific treatment for this disease. Normally, the treatment of migraine headache will be done by taking analgesic drugs. However, the treatment with many types of drugs could lead to side effects including gastric ulcer, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Nowadays, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an alternative way of migraine headache treatment, there was no apparent side effect. The previous studies showed that migraine headache treatment with TCM such as Chinese herbal treatment, standard acupuncture, acupuncture with electrical stimulation, Tuina massage and blood releasing method can reduce the frequency of headache, the pain scale of headache, and the duration of headache. This study agrees on the effects of TCM treatments on migraine headache. The information of this view could lead to alternative medical treatment of migraine headache for those patients with migraine and also have benefit on further research for the specific migraine headache treatment
